Matchless G3LS Patina not barn find
Used 1955 Matchless Ls for sale in North Lanarkshire Scotland. A Matchless G3LS, in original and unrestored condition. It sports it's original paintwork , with plenty of 'patina'. It has old and new log books and it's original registration number. It does not have it's original engine number. This bike was bought new in 1955 then ridden till 1975 when the original owner sadly passed. The bike went to his nephew who removed the engine then left it in a shed. I purchased it in 2007 and put it back on the road. The engine was rebored with new mains and the dynamo rebuilt with new armature, feild coil, brushes and bearings and a solid state regulator. New tyres and tubes were fitted . It runs (very well) on an Indian 'Pacco' carburettor for a 350 Enfield, re jetted to run without a filter. The original monobloc is supplied. The chronometric speedometer clocks up the miles but doesn't record speed. I have ridden it for around 2000 miles. This bike is a good preserved example of the excellent and underrated AMC single. These bikes were robust and very well finished and built up to a standard rather than down to a price. Subsequently they sold for a premium at the time . The last picture shows it as I bought it. Nothing cosmetic has been done since. This is a great bike for club runs and general use but not for those who prefer restored bikes. It will take you anywhere albeit at their own pace, however I have too many bikes and need the space so I must reluctantly sell it. Please don't restore it.
